Michelle Sorter, Assistant Principal

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Clinton High School! Your children are our business. Our goal is 100% graduation. Every Student, Everyday! I'd like to thank you for entrusting us as a school with your child's education and safety. They are our utmost priority. I am so excited to be your child’s assistant principal. If you have a concern, please don't hesitate to call me or your child's teachers. We are progressing through an exciting year at a rapid pace and appreciate your involvement in your child's education.

I am in my 10th year at Clinton Public Schools and 15th year in Public Education. As a 1997 graduate of Clinton High School, I believe strongly in the academic excellence of the Clinton School District and its ability to challenge and engage the youth of our community.  Students at Clinton have a wide variety of opportunities to pursue their passions and stand out as leaders, creators, and scholars.

I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2001 and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2013. My other certifications include Intermediate Mathematics and Elementary Education.

Previously, I was the Child Nutrition Director, and, prior to that, the Assistant Principal at Nance and Southwest Elementary Schools. Also at Clinton Middle School, I taught math and science and coached cheerleading, as well as sponsored Student Senate. Before returning to Clinton, I taught four years at Ninnekah Junior High and High School, where I taught severe/profound special education, and coached academic team and cheerleading. I have also taught special education one year at Geary Elementary and have had the blessing to have worked with summer camp students at Camp Happy Hollow through Southwestern for four years.

My children, Harmony and Cannon, both Clinton High School graduates, work in the district. I also have a son Jacob in 8th grade at Clinton Middle School.  I enjoy being involved in education, and investing in the future of the community of Clinton. I also enjoy spending time with my husband Lowell and our family, going to the lake/beach, and playing with my dogs Chugg and Cap.
