Purpose: Each CHS student will be assigned a Chromebook (CB) for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. Students are expected to carry it from class to class. With parent or guardian permission, they will have the opportunity to take the CB home. CBs require wifi for the full services; we cannot provide wifi to homes at this time.
Students without permission will store their Chromebooks in the Chrome Depot staffed by the Library Media Center. It will be checked out before 1st hour and returned before 3:45 pm. Student ID badge will be verified for pick up. The library inventory system is used to track the Chromebooks.
There are no loaner CBs for students who have not brought their device to school.
Benefits:
Chrome Depot:
Most Chromebook damage is to the screen or keyboard. Individual keys can’t be replaced on the CB, a replacement keyboard can cost from $40-$100. A screen can cost up to $200 (touchscreen).
Intentional or repeated damage or repeated failure to bring the Chromebook to school will result in a disciplinary referral.
Consequences | |
---|---|
If a student intentionally or repeatedly breaks their Chromebook... | Payment for repair or new device ⇨ ISD ⇨ Check out older CB only ⇨ No CB |
If a student repeatedly does not bring their Chromebook... | Student loses privilege of taking CB home |
If a student fails to check CB back into library... | Check out older CB only ⇨ No CB |
If a student does not return their CB before leaving Clinton Public Schools.. | Police report will be filed with CPS asking for payment/replacement |
Alternative methods of payment will be considered on a case-by-case basis. |

All students are issued a Chromebook unless they have opted out or have a device through their Western Plains Technology Center program.
In order to check out an iPad, (1) your parents must agree at enrollment and (2) you must sign an agreement in the library.
You may check out iPad from the library. All devices come with a charger. Checkout is 9 weeks maximum; you may renew the device as long as you bring it to the library so we can physically check on it. If you turn in a device early, you are not guaranteed that device. Overdue devices will be locked.
We currently use 2 list: Granger and Standard. Both are listed below. When you request an iPad, we will need to know which list you would like to use.

A few of you have had students use the chshelp@cpsreds.org to receive assistance with their Infinite Campus login. Thank you. This allows us to assist them and also track the issues facing you and our students better. I do ask a few favors of you.
1. If you have a student submit a helpdesk ticket for Infinite Campus, have them use their school email account. That is the one that should be associated with their IC account.
2. Have them cc you in the email. This will help them in the long run. A few of them have requested help, but do not read the followup email with the instructions. If you have them cc you, you will also get the followup email to reference and eliminate any excuses they might try to use.
3. Please have them include their name and what they are having trouble with as part of the email body. There are a few that don't put their name in the email and some of the names do not show up as part of their email address. This adds a few extra steps when we try to assist them because we need to look up their name before we are able to work on their problem.
