"History means learning from the past and making our future better. We have to stand with and take care of one another." - Joshua Harris-Till Mrs. Granger’s Senior English classes recently hosted guest speaker Joshua Harris-Till. Joining them to hear Till speak were students of History teachers Jacob Lee, Jacklyn Olney, and Micah Baker. Till is involved in politics and is a descendant of Emmett Till. He shared with students insights into leadership, advocacy, and his family's impact on history. Till's family spent decades diligently advocating for congress to enact the recently passed Antilynching Act named for Emmett Till. Students were inspired by Joshua Till's words and excited to meet someone with such a significant tie to a historical figure. Despite a close relative having passed away the day before, Till still came to visit Clinton’s students all day and share his message of treating one another with dignity and respect and to encourage them to learn from history so we don’t repeat it. #History #EmmettTill #BuildingChampions #cpsreds #chsok

The referral window for the Gifted and Talented program at Clinton Public Schools is now open. Students in grades PK-6 who qualify for gifted and talented are served through pull-out classes with our GT teacher, Ms. Jessica Cox. This pull-out class is project-based learning through Project Lead the Way. Students in grades 7-12 are served through a variety of visual and performing arts opportunities, AP, Honors, and concurrent classes, along with leadership opportunities through a variety of organizations and clubs. These are just a few examples of the many ways we serve our GT students at Clinton Public Schools. Any stakeholder in the student's life may refer them for GT testing. Students currently served in GT do not need to be referred again. To obtain a referral form for gifted and talented testing, please call Nancy Murray at (580) 323-1290 EXT. 2003 or email nancy.murray@clintonokschools.org. Referrals will be accepted through April 5. #GiftedAndTalented #BuildingChampions #cpsreds
